U.Porto wins gold medal in Cross Country and bronze in Rhythmic Gymnastics

João Amaro won the title of national university champion in Cross Country and Joana Borges won the bronze medal in Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Last Saturday, March 15, U.Porto won the gold medal at the National University Championship (CNU) of Cross Country, in Marvão, and the bronze medal at the CNU of Rhythmic Gymnastics, in Anadia.

Joao Amaro, student of Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto, he became three-time national university champion in the mode of Cross Country. In addition to this gold medal, U.Porto, under the guidance of coach Pedro Guimarães, achieved the following results in the CNU Cross Country: 6th place, Raquel Sampaio (FFUP); 7th place, Anita Alves (FADEUP) and Rafael Lopes (FADEUP); 19th place, Nelson Barbosa (FADEUP), 20th place, André Pereira (FCUP); 22nd place, Beatriz Claro (FADEUP); 23rd place, José Fontes (FEUP); 30th place Pedro Cruz (FEP).

Also on Saturday, U.Porto also competed in the first CNU edition of Rhythmic Gymnastics, in Anadia. The student Joana Borges from FFUP won the first ever medal for U.Porto in this modality, rising to the third place from the podium by Apple test. In the Ball and Hoop tests, Sofia Amorim, student of FADEUP, reached the fifth place in both, already in the test of Ribbons, Joana Borges ranked in the sixth position.

U.Porto competes in a variety of sports at the National University Championships, organized by the Academic Federation of University Sports, and this week it is the turn of 3x3 Basketball, in Funchal, Madeira.
