U.Porto wins four medals in Low Kick Kickboxing
Last Saturday, March 29, the University of Porto won a total of four medals – one gold, one silver and two bronze – at the National University Low Kick Kickboxing Championship, held in Faro.
The U.Porto delegation, made up of four student-athletes and led by coach Ricardo Quintela, stood out by securing a place on the podium in all categories in which they competed.
In a competition that brought together 63 student athletes from all over the country, the great protagonist of U.Porto was Philippe Mirault, a student from the Faculty of Engineering of U.Porto (FEUP), who was crowned national champion in the -63,5 kg category. João Ferreira, also from FEUP, won the silver medal in the -60 kg category. The bronze medals were won by Rita Novais (-56 kg, FEUP) and José Craveiro (-67 kg, Faculty of Sports of U.Porto).
The University of Porto returns to action next week, this time in the Final Stages of the National University Championships, the largest university multi-sport event in the country, which will take place in Coimbra, from 7 to 18 April.
