CDUP-Boa Hora: we close a cycle, we start a new stage

The Sports Center of the University of Porto (CDUP-UP) will close its activity in the CDUP-Boa Hora building next day 25 May 2025. The closure comes as part of a profound requalification process, integrated into the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The building will be renovated to house a new university residence and a modern sports facility, with the aim of improving conditions for sports practice and supporting the academic life of the U.Porto community. The new infrastructure will allow us to respond more effectively to the current and future needs of the University.

UPFit services in new temporary facilities

During the construction period, UPFit services — including muscle building e group classes — will start to operate, starting from mid-septemberOn temporary modular structures located in the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) and Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto.

These structures will have a total area of ​​approximately 300m², equipped with:

  • A weight room;
  • Two fitness rooms;
  • Support infrastructures, such as changing rooms e air conditioning, ensuring adequate conditions of comfort and safety.

The new location is located at 750 meters from CDUP-Boa Hora, accessible in approximately 9 minutes walk ou 3 minutes by car.

During this transition period, several alternatives for practicing physical activity remain available at the University's remaining campuses:

  • University Stadium (Polo III – Campo Alegre): Bodybuilding and group classes;
  • Faculty of Sports (Polo II – Asprela): Bodybuilding, group classes and water activities.

For booking sports venues, the following are also available:

  • Pavilions and grass fields from the University Stadium;
  • Luís Falcão Sports Hall (Polo II – Asprela).
